There’s a new coffee shop in town! Onefold, located on E 18th Ave just across from the old St. Luke’s Hospital, offers a simple menu of local, organic food and outstanding coffee. Despite being open for only 3 weeks, OneFold has already developed a host of regulars, and is garnering plenty of positive attention from those who have stumbled on this small gem.
Onefold was opened by the couple duo Terese and Mark, both Denver natives. Terese, a former architect, designed the interior, which radiates with simple homey elegance. Although the space was formerly a Quiznos, it has shed all traces of its former image, and the interior has been redone into a perfectly crisp and inviting space, with touches like fresh flowers and silver and gold flatware.
I visited OneFold on an uncharacteristically warm spring day, and they had opened their windows to let in the warm breeze from their outdoor patio. Along the kitchen is a small bar area, where you can watch their chefs and baristas at work.
Onefold offers a small but eclectic menu with recipes straight out of Terese and Mark’s own kitchen. Their coffee, which is sourced from Denver’s own CommonWealth Coffee, is available as a drip or pour-over cup. They offer organic loose-leaf teas from The Tea Spot in Boulder and a comforting and nutrient-rich Bone Broth made from smoked Tender Belly ham and free-range chicken.
Their “Simple Breakfast” includes 2 slices of Tender Belly maple or habanero bacon, duck-fat fried potatoes, and 2 eggs over easy.
They also offer Tender Belly bacon fried rice, spanish tortillias, crepes, and congee, a spicy Asian-style risotto with poached eggs and ham. Their breakfast burritos are made with handmade tortillas, made fresh to order.
Nearly everything is organic and locally-sourced from Denver favorites such as Grower’s Organic and they use heritage pork from Tender Belly. If you’re craving something sweet to pair with your coffee, Onefold has an array of pastries from Sugar Vision.
